Catoctin Mountain/Cunningham Falls


Catoctin Mountain is a National Park located in Frederick Maryland. The park offers a variety of outdoor activities: hiking, cross country skiing, fishing, horse trails, rock climbing and orienteering. You can stay the night in the park by camping or renting a cabin. One of the tallest waterfalls can be accessed right at Catoctin Mountain. Cunningham falls is a 78-foot cascading waterfall. Cunningham falls is a 2.8 miles round trip from Catoctin Mountain National Park. Cunningham falls is also a part of Cunningham Falls state park. For a shorter trip you can enter Cunningham falls state park for a fee. The hike is a 1-mile round trip. Bring water shoes for the best grip while climbing the falls. Cell phone service can be bad in certain areas depending on your carrier. On the weekends the park can get very busy and fill to capacity.
